Q: Do you have a print catalog?
A: No. We have found that the best way to display a comprehensive collection of our backgrounds and products is here, Online. All background thumbnails can be clicked for a larger view, providing better detail than a print catalog could.
Q: Will the background I order look like the display picture I see on your website?
A: Short answer: Yes. For the long answer, Click Here.
Q: Are your muslin backgrounds stiff or soft?
A: Actually, they are somewhere in between. We use a special technique which involves the use of paint and fabric dye, so they are never too stiff, never too thin. By combining the paint and fabric dye we are able to achieve many beautiful blending and brushwork-effects.
Q: My muslin is still a bit stiffer than I would like it. Is there any way to soften it?
A: Yes - by using it. Handling your muslin will cause it to soften. Store it crushed between uses - crumpling and uncrumpling it over time causes the stiffness to ease.
Q: Are your muslin backgrounds see-through?
A: No. They photograph opaque, unless you backlight them deliberately.
Q: Can I wash my muslin background in a washing machine?
A: We don't recommend it because the background may lighten in color. We recommend spot-cleaning with a damp rag or sponge and a small amount of dishwashing soap. Blot dry with a towel or use a hair dryer to avoid water-stain marks.
Q: What's the best way to remove wrinkles from my muslin?
A: Most wrinkles will loosen on their own if you hang your background for any length of time. For stubborn wrinkles, iron the back with an ordinary household iron on medium to high setting. Do not use steam, as dripping water may leave water stains.
If wrinkles are a big issue for you, we recommend ordering canvas backgrounds instead, which are much heavier and stored rolled so that they never develop wrinkles..
TIP: Once you have ironed your muslin, store it rolled to preserve the wrinkle-free surface.
